[ maybe while out shopping you ran into someone— literally ran into them, knocking one or the both of you over. a good look at them shows it's a girl, obviously homeless if her general hygiene and the layered and filthy clothes she's wearing are any indication.
or maybe you just found a ten foot long serpentine monstrosity rummaging around in your knocked-over garbage cans. (a girl's gotta eat, all right.)
or maybe something else entirely is going on. go nuts, AUS AND RANDOM BULLSHIT WELCOME
note: magic sensors can tell she's got an affinity/alignment with metal, and also feels basically like something/someone hideously deformed in a horrifying way. ]

Then she slowly takes a few steps closer. Because of course she does. The wolf trots along with her as she shines the light from her torch over the knocked over trashcans to try and get a better look at what's going on. ]

whatever the creature is, it freezes at the sound of footsteps and then abruptly withdraws its head from the bin, swinging it around to glare at the girl with slit-pupilled eyes. the body might be somewhat wolflike, but aside from the ears its head is not; the face is a viper's, and so are the enormous fangs it bares in her direction. ]

picking up on her nerves, Dimwit gives a low growl, deep in the throat, but stays by her side. Krista's quiet for a long moment and those fangs make her swallow hard enough to hurt. But she's seen a lot of things that started out looking scary and turned out to be perfectly fine. So she pipes up -- ]
... hello? Are you okay?
no subject
...I'm fine.
[ it's a young woman's voice, raspy and a little low in that way voices get when they aren't used much. ]

How come you're out here in the... [ she trails off, thoughtfully. 'in the trash' sounds a bit rude, so she verbally backspaces before trying again. ] What're you looking for in there?

Still. The show must go on, as it were, and so his face cracks open on a hard-edged smile, hands loose at his side's but nonetheless poised to go for his guns should the need arise. There's something in him that attests to that, a sense of something coiled and waiting beneath the cool visage]
Well, then. Whatever do we have here.

What does it fucking look like?
[ despite the creature's appearance, the voice is a young woman's, albeit rusty with disuse ]
no subject
What does it look like? You tell me. Someone's attempt at a dog soldier having gone somewhat awry, maybe.
no subject
I don't know what the military here is like, but I doubt they'd take someone like me.

[ despite appearances, the voice is absolutely human: low and a little raspy, but in a way that speaks more of disuse than anything else. it's also unmistakably a young woman's. ]

unfortunately, it is only a "mostly"— she is still a pretty traumatized introvert. even if pretty much nothing short of the entire flock's ability to generate Constant Friendliness at her was going to wear her prickly paranoia down enough, she still hates too much attention and spooks at the drop of a feather. it isn't uncommon for her to get overwhelmed and proceed to vanish aside from any chores and the minimum of regular appearances to keep anyone from getting worried.
...it is very much less common for her to neglect that second part without any sort of warning. and yet... it's been over a day. where is she? ]
